Question: What’s your favourite book?

Ответ/The student’s answer: Interestingly enough, I don’t have a favourite book. That’s why I’m going to tell about one of the books I read in March. It’s «The Tokyo Zodiac Murders», a Japanese detective novel written by Soji Shimada.

It’s about an eccentric artist who was found dead in a locked room in 1936. His astrological and alchemical notes were also found there, and it turned out that he wanted to kill his six young relatives in order to use certain parts of their bodies and create a perfect woman.
The plot of Soji Shimada’s book is incredibly exciting.

I like this book for two reasons.

Firstly, the Japanese have long been famous for violent and convoluted crimes, Which miraculously coexist with Japan’s conservative patriarchal social system.

Secondly, it’s a classic detective tandem that conducts the investigation: an unsociable talented detective and his humble friend.

To sum up, I would like to say that this book is sure to please not only fans of Oriental literature, but also those who love extraordinary and complicated plots.
If you like detective novels, I recommend you to read it.
